About The Lowdown

When it comes to our careers and the workplace, women still face challenges that stop us from reaching our full potential. This can include equal pay and progression, a lack of confidence and support networks as well as intersectional discrimination and harassment.

We want women to feel inspired, empowered, and supported by other women when it comes to their careers and ambitions. Our mentoring offers opportunities to anyone who identifies as a woman. Everyone is welcome to apply to be a mentor.

Our mission

Our mission is to connect women from different careers and backgrounds, empowering them to support one another, elevating their voices and allowing them to reach their full potential.

Our approach

At The Lowdown, our approach to mentoring is to focus on supporting anyone who identifies as a woman in the early stages of their careers. As you are building your career in those early stages, there are lots of new challenges that you will have to navigate and can have a profound impact on your future.

There are also often additional barriers for women from marginalised and disadvantaged backgrounds, who don’t have the privilege and cultural capital to benefit from the right mentoring support and career advice.

We want to match you with a diverse group of mentors particularly those who have a wide range of experiences that they can bring to their conversations.

At The Lowdown we take a personal approach to matching our mentors and mentees, we consider what are mentees are looking for support with or what industry they currently or wish to work in. We then match this with a mentor who has the right experience to be able to provide high quality mentoring.
